Web Site Usability
The Best Web Sites Are Easy to Use
Read It
- Use simple, easy to read sentences.
- Get straight to the point. Viewers want to find the information they are looking for quickly.
- Limit the amount of text on a page. Too much copy intimidates viewers.
- Allow plenty of "white" space.
- Employ lists whenever possible. Viewers are more likely to scan a list than read a paragraph.
- Choose text and background colors that are in sharp contrast.
See It
- Make your site visual. Pictures and images peak interest and facilitate understanding of content. A picture is worth 1,000 words.
- Employ well optimized photos so the site loads quickly.
- While images are appealing, avoid clutter as this can be distracting.
- Do not overuse animations. When overdone these are not only distracting but annoying.
Here are a few sample pages from the sites of some of our happy clients to give you an idea of a style you might prefer.
